|
|
The e-mail server I am trying to use does not authenticate with a user name and password. It just uses POP3 authentication before SMTP.
Unfortunately, VV 2.5 e-mail set up apparently does not allow POP3 authentication by itself. You must check "Authenticate using Name and Password" and enter a User Name and Password before you can select "Authenticate with POP3 server before sending E-mail" and enter the POP3 Server Name.
Now, on the surface, this seems correct but, apparently, even after POP3 authentication has occurred, VV 2.5 still attempts SMTP authentication before sending the message. My e-mail server apparently doesn't like this and throws an error: " - 535 authorization failed (#5.7.0)".
Interestingly enough, once POP3 authentication has been done and I uncheck "Authenticate using Name and Password", e-mailing works fine until the POP3 authentication time-out occurs.
So, it would appear to me at least that we need the ability to enter a User Name and Password and use only POP3 authentication by itself. I don't know if that is allowed in the code of VV 2.5 but the user cannot select this option separately. I thought about directly editing the profile to try it but decided that might cause more problems and that I should just ask first.

Any progress on this problem yet? I can see from the forum topics that you are probably very busy but I was hoping.
Thanks,
Dan N. |

Hello
Yes, we think we found the issue and should be able to release a new build in the next few days. Would be great if you could leave the test account you created active until then,
thank you! _________________ --

Support,
That's good news. I will keep the test account available as long as you need it.

Any updates on this? Just upgraded to 2.5 64bit and I am having authentication issues, though I was previously able to send email from a post-job script ok using the same email account...
Cheers,
Mark |

Yes, I was also wondering since a solution seemed close on 11/5/09. Any further news? Any information would be appreciated.

Any progress on a new build to fix this problem yet? I would be happy to test it, if needed.
