Hello,
I've seen Vice Versa Pro in action on a colleague's PC and wonder if it's appropriated to my own special need.
Well ! I have a desktop PC containing all my projects and a laptop which contains a copy of some of those only.
I would like to be able to bidirectionally synchronize all the subdirectories that already exist on the laptop without to have to designate them explicitely.
For example :
- Say the desktop PC has this tree :
C:\MyProjects
C:\MyProjects\Project1
C:\MyProjects\Project2
C:\MyProjects\Project3\Part1
C:\MyProjects\Project3\Part2
C:\MyProjects\Project3\Part3
C:\MyProjects\Project4
- Say the laptop has this tree :
C:\MyProjects
C:\MyProjects\Project1
C:\MyProjects\Project3\Part1
C:\MyProjects\Project3\Part3
Indicating to synchronize the two C:\MyProjects in the two PC's, I would like, in fact, that only Project1 and Project3, Part 1 and 3 be synchronized.
And that every Project addition on laptop side be taken in count automatically by the synchronization setting.
For example, if I add C:\MyProjects\Project4 (i.e. I copy it from destop to laptop manually, outside of ViceVersa, I mean), I wish this Project4 be synchronized too.
The same way, if I delete (again, outside of ViceVersa), say, C:\MyProjects\Project1 in the laptop, I want ViceVersa take this change in consideration and exclude automatically Project1 from the synchronization.
In fact, the content of the laptop will indicate what project and subprojects to synchronize.
Does ViceVersa (Pro) able to achieve this kind of dynamic thing ? |

Hello, with the synchronization method it is not possible, you could use replication from source to target but in that case if files changes in target (laptop), changes won't propagate to source...

Oh ! I see ! Thanks.
Well, so if do two replications successively (1) desktop -> laptop, then 2) laptop -> desktop) it would does the job. What do you thi k about this way ?
Also, does files changed in target will be overwritten by older files from source during a replication ? If yes, the solution above is wrong. |
