I have been using this software for a short time, trial period, now purchased and have some questions. Files on local drive were copied piecemeal over some time across network from a USB drive on different computer with wireless network connection. Local drive has been setup as "source" and- files on the USB drive as target.
I want to synchronize these two, but the "same" files on each drive are not recognized as "matched." Why. Name, size and time are identical. I have also removed the timestamp requirement with same results. Is the path an issue?
At the bottom of this post is screenshot showing the files I thought would "match."
Pasted below is my profile, which I have not executed - only compared and previewed. Thanks for any help.
>>>>
Profile File: C:\Documents and Settings\David\My Documents\ViceVersa PRO 2\Music_from_Del1_to TOS1_to Z.fsf* (not saved)
Folders
- Source: "D:\audio\" (Archived)
- Target: "\\Del1\z\audio\" (Archived)
- Include Subfolders: Yes
- Create sources/targets that do not exist
Comparison
- Comparison Type: Size and Timestamp
Execution
- Method: Synchronization
- Tracking Database: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ViceVersa PRO 2\vvdb1.tdb"
- Archive deleted/replaced source files to: "D:\vice-versa_archive_source\"
- Archive deleted/replaced target files to: "D:\vice-versa_archive_target\"
- Smart archive
- Append Source/Target path to archive folder(s)
- Verify successful file copy by checking file CRC

I have solved my mystery. Thank you for asking for the screen shot. I figured out a spelling correction of a directory name was made on source! That's why this particular set did not "match." "eye" was misspelled "rye" and after changing the target directory manually to match - voila! - the files and directory "match."
I have executed the syncronization and, for now, mysteries have been answered.
Thanks again, David |
