|
|
We have a LAN with 12 computers on it several of which are servers.
What I want to do is install seperate/additional NICS in 2 computers and using a Xover cable connect them together and use VV to use that connection instead of the LAN connection to synch folders etc.
Is that possible or do I have to buy different software? _________________ NSR |

If the 2 computers can "see" each other folders to sync, via the SMB protocol (a.k.a. Windows Networking), then you can use ViceVersa to sync the 2. thanks _________________ --

They can see each other that is not the question.
They are on a LAN with 1 NIC and connected to each other with a crossover cable via a second NIC as well. I want VV to use the direct Xover cable connection--NOT the LAN connection.
Is there a way to tell VV to do this?
We own version 2.0 Pro and the VV engine and could never figure out how to do this.
Can the new version do what I want or do I need a more sophisticated software? _________________ NSR |

I will give it a try by disconnecting the LAN and doing the mapping across the dedicated line then reconnect the LAN and see if that works. Thanks for the tip and I will try it out tomorrow. _________________ NSR |

I did this setup on many sites and i use VVPro 2.
heres a work around to be sure that the transfert is going by your Xover cable:
Lets say that your LAN has IP addresses on 192.168.1.XXX
Set a fixed IP on both "Xover" network cards in another local network range
Example:
Xover Server1 NIC: IP=10.5.0.1 Mask=255.255.255.0 (no defaultGW)
Xover Server2 NIC: IP=10.5.0.2 Mask=255.255.255.0 (no defaultGW)
Now in your VVProfile use the IPs in 10.5.0.X range
or your can map network drives by using the XoverIP\sharefolder instead of server name |
