|

I am synching 1TB of data from a local disk on a Vista Business machine both to a local USB hard drive and to a Buffalo Terastation NAS. Robocopy will do this, it only takes 6 minutes or so to sync to the USB drive, but it takes about 30 hours to sync to the NAS. I want a product that will monitor the source and ONLY COPY CHANGED FILES. It does not do me much good to monitor the source and then kick off the whole job, Robocopy does that for free.
Please let me know if your product can do this, if it can I will buy it.
Regards,
John |

Don't understand your reply. I set up a profile between my laptop data partition and my TeraStation NAS and set up VVEngine to monitor and sync changes. It seems to be working fine.
Are you saying there is a problem with what I have done? |

Hi,
The way ViceVersa PRO and VVEngine work together is:
- VVEngine monitors for file changes in source and/or target.
- If a change is detected, VVEngine starts ViceVersa PRO.
- ViceVersa PRO scans source and target, compare the files and copies only the files that have changed to the target.
This routine could be improved in a way, by avoiding ViceVersa PRO re-scanning source and target again. This would make things faster for slow connection replications (does not apply to NAS replication/backup)

Hello, I bought licences for VVPro and VVEngine last year and yes, this feature would be very awesome
do you have an ETA for this ?
my problem is that I need to be able to synch loads of data (approx 500gb) though VPN connexion (max past year was under 70kB/s) and the compare took years even before the actual synch was done
It seems that the whole file is copied too, it would be very nice if only the delta was since I (and I guess I'm not alone) am dealing with files that can be over 500mb |

Hi,
We need to replicate the files on the server to the NAS.
Actually my doubt is, if we are going to replicate SQL DB file (.mdf or .ldf) which would be around 10 gigs are more in size.
How does VV handles it? whether it copies the entire file (single .mdf file which is 10gb or more) each time it detects a change in the file or does it consider only the changes done to that file?
Thanks
