I sync my desktop and laptop twice weekly, and have always had a problem with some files in a specific folder resulting in "access denied" errors because of permission issues. If I undo and redo the permissions for that folder, all is well, but I have to do it before every sync.

Since changing from an XP Pro laptop to Vista Ultimate, however, the same files and folders still fail to get copied, except now, Vice Versa doesn't show any errors. It looks as though everything worked perfectly, even though a handful of files were not backed up. This caused some major problems until I figured out what was going on, and now I'm suspicious that other files aren't getting copied even though there are no warnings. Hand verifying file dates and sizes is a long, tedious process but I'm afraid not to do it.

Sounds very much like a fairly serious bug in Vice Versa. I reported it but never received a response, so insight from forum participants would be welcome. (I can duplicate the problem easily.)

Thanks.

Did you try to take the ownerrship of all folders / files?
Right click properties on the root folder / security / Advance / Owner tab / Select your current user and be sure to check the "replace owner" check box / Click OK

BTW: You need to disable Simple file sharing to use the security tab

Good luck! Wink

Hello

I replied to your e-mail with the logs, thanks.

It's quite strange that no errors is given if the files are not copied, what type of drive is the target drive?

thanks
