I have modified a profile to include the Execution -> Advanced Settings -> Copy permissions, security attributes and streams (NTFS only). The files were originally copied from the Source to the Target without that option selected. Then I run a Compare and there are no files selected to have their permissions included. Why is this? I want to copy the NTFS permissions from the Source to the Target without deleting the data at the Target. What gives?

To convince myself that this happened because the Source and Target files were already date, time and size a match VV determined that no update was required, so I deleted the Target files and re-copied the Target files (using the Execution Method Replication (Update Target)) and the NTFS Security Permissions did not copy over to the Target files.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

I used same admin account on both target and source - permissions are not being copied from source to target. What would the issue be?

Hi, suppose you are working with

source: c:\sourcefolder\
target: x:\targetfolder\

Make sure c:\sourcefolder\ and x:\targetfolder\ have the same file permissions before you start copying files with ViceVersa.

Make also sure you have activated the option to copy file permissions in profile settings->advanced settings.

thanks

We are copying files/folders/permissions from a clustered server - we verified that the permissions are being copied properly in non-clustered server - can you tell us how to copy permissions in clustered environment?

I can't seem to have NTFS permission copied over using Backup Method with Advanced Setting>Copy permission\ownership\file auditing\ nodata streams enabled. Log file shows successful backup with 0 errors, however, explicit NTFS permission applied on Source doesn't get copied over on target. Instead, target folder inherits permission from parent folder.

BTW, Allow inheritable permission from parent \ Allow propagation to child descendant on both source and target are Unchecked.
