|
|
I am evaluating VV Pro and have problem running it on the Windows 2003 server and saving "open" files like outlook.pst
I am getting this error:
[Volume Shadow Copy creation failed for C:. VSS_E_UNEXPECTED_PROVIDER_ERROR] Error.
The same software runs flawlessly on my XP Client also with outlook.pst open and is able to back it up.
Is there anything I can adjust/configure on the server? Or is this a VV bug/problem? VV Pro is useless for me, if this does not work
Thanks fpr any help. Without this feature .

Gladly I found the cause of this problem myself. I just want to share the solution, since many others may have the same issue end never found the solution:
Searching the internet I found this link: ... wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=855502
And here I was reading about Acronis Software.
About a year ago I had installed Acronis True Image on my server, which, since it did not work like expected, had been unistalled a few days later. Unfortunately the uninstall obviously does not remove everything and most important of all: the VSS features of Windows remain corrupted.
So I used the advice in the thread and did this:
Click Start->run->cmd and use the following command
regsvr32 /u \windows\system32\snapapivss.dll
to unregister snapapivss.dll, which was a left over from the Acronis instalation.
And now VV Pro works just fine ... |
