First the specs: I'm running a Dell Studio with Windows 64 Bit Vista. I'm backing up to a 1TB external drive using USB. I'm using the "backup" mode to "mirror" my C: drive.

Now the problem; during the backup process I get a notification as follows: "Volume Shadow Copy creation failed for C: Access is denied - Volume Shadow Copy requires Administrator or Backup privileges. Click on "Continue" if you wish to proceed without Volume Shadow Copy." I am the Administrator on this computer. Please advise how to have VV create the Shadow Copy.

Also, I have lots and lots of "do you want to replace" and "can not access" messages. I know that if I were to check "no confirmations" I can eliminate this. My question is - doing that , will I have a true copy of my C: drive and if I had to do a "full restore" would I indeed get a full restore??

Hello

You'll need to run ViceVersa PRO with elevated privileges on Windows Vista to use the VSS feature. Right click on the ViceVersa icon then select "Run as Administrator" from the menu. The warning messages should then disappear.

thanks

O.K. Thanks for solving the shadow copy issue, but what will happen if I was to try and put VV on a schedule for auto backup? Also, what about those files that "can be opened"? Am I getting a true copy of my hard drive?
