I am a registered user of ViceVersa Pro 2.0.

I think it has been about four or five years since there has been a major update to the program.

I use it on a daily basis and I like it except for one feature: even if only one file has been changed, the program goes through all the files in a profile to compare.

This slows up my computer.

I know the moderators of this forum have said for several years they were going to add a feature taking care of that problem.

As my data grows, so grows the annoyance of the program comparing the entire hard drive even if only one file has changed.

Is there any definitive prospect of there being an update to take care of this feature in the relatively near future?

Thanks.

If i understand you correctly, there is no need for a update.
Why don't you filter your desired file to backup ?
Why don't you limit the backup to the appropriete directory ?

In your case, it makes no sense to scan the entire harddrive.

Joe

Yes, this feature will be added to the next VVEngine release. When working with a large set of files it would be better not to rescan the entire source and target each time. I can't be precise on the release date, but we are targeting H1 09.
thanks

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean by filtering? I use different directories at different times for different files.

In order to make sure that whatever I do gets backed up, I have a profile that that scans all of my directories with files (it doesn't scan system directories, etc.).

I think you are suggesting a workaround that doesn't
address this particular problem.

This feature has been requested a number of times (to have Vice Versa only scan new files) because there are a lot of people who have vice versa monitoring a lot of files.

In other words, if I limited ViceVersa to only monitoring small portion of my work area, that substantially increases the chance I may not be backing up a file.

Thanks.

Is there a beta available for this?

Also, what does H1 2009 mean? I assume that does not mean first quarter, since we are almost at the end of that.

I think and many other users are looking forward to this feature.

Hiya,
My 2015 64 always crashes on Server 2008 - so have had to use 2014 everywhere.

Hello ,

is this related to the archive issue or is ViceVersa crashing ? If crashing, can you please send the crash files viceversa.dmp and viceversa.rpt (they are in the installation folder) to support@tgrmn.com

thanks!
