Hello,

what does this message mean in detail?

[Volume Shadow Copy creation failed for d:. VSS_E_UNEXPECTED_PROVIDER_ERROR] Error.

In other profiles I get this also for drive c:.

Sometimes it works (w/o errors), sometimes not. What is the the framework I can/must provide?

The Volume Shadow Service is started automatically during boot time and should be ready to use.

Hello

This error is returned from the Windows Volume Shadow Service and unfortunately I could not find too much info about it beside to retry later.

I guess that the problem occurs while using a PGD-volume (PGP encrypted filesystem) even if this is NTFS fomatted.

And now??

mmmm , guess this means that PGP encrypted filesystems do not support Volume Shadow Copies. there is not much VV can do about this, VV simply requests a Shadow Copy, but it is not involved in its creation.

Obviously this is right. And now after some time meditation this is a definitely correct behavior. It makes no sense to permit the creation of plain copies of encrypted data. So I have to live with that Wink

Thanks for your patience.
