I've been evaluating ViceVersa Pro and really like it. The only problems I've had are with VVScheduler. For quite a while, I could not get it to run anything -- I could run the profile manually from the main window, but the Run Task button seemed inactive, and scheduled tasks didn't run.

It all seems to be working properly now, but I'm still confused as to why it didn't work initially. Everything else in VV has seemed very clear to me, so the confusion here was unexpected.

The first couple of dozen times I pushed the Run Task button, nothing happened. No flicker, no change in status, nothing written to the log file.

Then last night, I watched when it was supposed to run. Nothing happened. Well duh, I had the option set to wait for idle, and of course I was keeping it busy looking at stuff while I waited for the launch. But nothing happened later either, when it was idle. Possibly I had modified the schedule and that eliminated the waiting entry. Not sure.

I'm running Vista64, all updates. VV Pro build 2015. I installed and set up VV using my non-admin user but need the backup to run as admin, mainly due to needing VSS though also because a few folders in ProgramData which the normal user can read but can't write (and therefore can't write to the target once security is copied for the folder).

I found earlier posts here mentioning the Windows Task Scheduler log file. But when I do Tools->Log in VVScheduler, all I get is a dialog saying "Windows Task Scheduler log file location not found in the registry". Probably this is because the Task Scheduler was redesigned for Vista (found it on Wikipedia but can't post a link here). I finally found the log in the Event Viewer. I found various errors, including this one, which doesn't really explain anything:

Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-TaskScheduler/Operational

Just identifying myself as the one who posted the above. Don't know why the forum thought I wasn't logged on.

I've just realized that an important consideration is that you must save the configuration from the main window before entering VVScheduler, or VVScheduler will see the saved profile rather than the current one. While this is not unreasonable, I think it's important to provide some kind of guidance, possibly a dialog box saying "Unsaved profile will not be seen by VVScheduler. Save first?" when invoking VVScheduler from the Tools menu. Of course this won't help if VVScheduler is run from the Start Menu. Some better communication among components is needed, I think.
