|

Hi,
I'd like to be able to use a script to create a customised profile for the users machine upon which it has been installed, and set that profile to be active using VVLauncher to monitor changes and copy the appropriate files through to the destination.
the profile file appears to be a text file, but it also appears in the registry. Which is the best place to configure this action silently on the machines in question?
I'm going to be scripting this to perform a silent install of VVPro2, create the correct profile for the user and activating it in VVLauncer with the correct configuration. The script will be run on login with the users own credentials (them being a localadmin on their machine.
Any assistance you can provide will be appreciated. I'm planning to roll this out to some 150 machines (to start with) simultaneously. |

Hello
I think the best way is to create a profile file (.fsf) and then schedule the profile to run automatically using VVEngine. Please see http://www.tgrmn.com/web/vvengine/vvengine.htm
VVEngine is a lot more powerful compared to VVLauncher; it can also be configured via an XML file. So the VV profile can be scheduled easily via an XML file.
Let me know if you have any more questions or encounter any issue, we'll try to help with the setup,
thanks _________________ --

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that involve purchase of both a VVPro2 and a VVEngine license for each machine and scripting a silent install of both packages on each machine in order to be able to configure the profiles?
The profile will be ever so slightly different for each machine as it will be configured for each user - they all have different home directories, and backup directories and although the only difference between the profiles will be the username.
Is there some way to create the .fsf profile file using a "wildcard" username in the path fields?
Does your response mean that as far as you're aware it's not possible to do it with ViceVersa without spending an additional $25 (totalling $85) per head? |

Hello
You can use the folder variable <user> in the profile. See help file for additional info on folder variables. I think it is also possible to setup the same with VVLauncher, but it's not as flexible as VVEngine.
Regarding pricing, please contact sales@tgrmn.com for a quote.
