|

Based on what I have read on the forum it appears that Vice Versa does not track renamed files or folders. Instead it treates the renamed file or folder as a new file or folder and copies it where appropriate.
For Example using Sync Mode:
PC1 c:\oldname renamed to c:\newname
PC2 c:\oldname
ViseVersa will copy PC1 c:\newname to PC2
and will copy PC2 c:\oldname to PC1
Is this correct?
Is it possible to handle renaming in ViceVersa? If so how is it done?
Thanks Again, |

Hello
if a file is renamed in PC1, ViceVersa PRO will copy PC1 c:\newname to PC2 and will delete PC2 c:\oldname from PC2 (when using the synchronization method)

I am evaluating VV for use in synchronizing an application folder across a farm that includes 4 servers. I setup a test on my local machine to synch between 3 folders. I have setup a profile as follows:
Folder1 to Folder2
Folder1 to Folder3
Adds and deletes synch fine. If I rename a file in either Folder1 or Folder3 the other 2 folders synch OK. If I rename a file in Folder2 I end up with 2 copies of the file. One with the olde name and one with then new.
I have tested this synching both manually and as soon as file changes are detected using VVLauncher with the same results.

Hello
it looks like deletion is failing for the first profile , does the profile log show any errors? what type of disk is the target?

The log does not show any errors. The folders invovled are all located on my c: drive so I don't introduce any network issues. I am using the paths c:\folder1, c:\folder2, and c:\folder3.
I am using a single profile setup as Multiple Sources/Targets. I had to use a single profile so that I could use the VVLauncher to use the 'Run as soon as file changes are detected' setting. Is this how synchronization between 3 or more folders with each other should be done or is there a better way?
thanks again |
