|

I've seen a few related posts, and I think I'm getting closer to an answer (so pardon if this topic/answer is already posted).
I have an external 1TB drive hooked up to an ethernet router so that it is networked for all of my computers. I have an identical local 1TB drive hooked up to my main desktop machine via USB that I want to mirror and backup the ethernet drive.
I'm using the trial version of Vice Versa and purchased version of VVEngine. When I schedule using the Engine, I get a message that says that my ethernet drive cannot be monitored.
Can I back up an external ethernet drive to an external local drive? Thanks in advance. _________________ David - Washington, DC |

Hi, did you install VVEngine as a service? Are you using a mapped drive to access the ethernet drive? thanks _________________ --

I don't see it in my Services list. Is that something that I do at the initial install? I have not mapped my main desktops drives. _________________ David - Washington, DC |

I found the steps to install as a service in the FAQ and I'll look into mapping the drive. Are there any other steps to try? _________________ David - Washington, DC |

Hello
If the ethernet drive is based on Linux or Unix, it can not be monitored for changes by ViceVersa. Only folders on Windows systems can be monitored.
You can still monitor your local folder (source?) for changes and VVEngine will run as soon as a change is detected.
It is not needed to run VVEngine as a service or map the drive, sorry for the confusion.
