I want to install VV in my local computer and to monitor a network shared folder in another computer. Is it possible? Do I need to install VV in that computer too? |

Hello,
yes, it is possible to monitor a network folder for changes, but the network folder must reside on a Windows 2000/2003/2008/XP/Vista based machine. A Novell server, for instance, does not generate notification events and neither does a NAS based on Linux.
It is not needed to install VV on the remote.

I own a NAS from Synology (model DS207+).
Is there any solution in order to let the NAS send notification events when changes are made to the server's content, in order to make the 'monitor when file changes are detected' mode work ? |

Hello
unfortunately not, because NAS based on Linux do not send file change notifications. The only workaround is to use a scheduled job.

What about an iSCSI SAN device such as a Buffalo Terastation II? If this is connected to a windows server and using the Windows initiator would ViceVersa be able to detect changes? |

I believe it is a form of Linux. |

Unfortunately I do not think it will work. To be able to detect changes, the disk needs to be a local disk formatted as NTFS on a Windows machine. _________________ --

|

Hi, instead of starting a new topic, in a similar vein,
we just dnld'd and are running VVpro on a Win2003 R2 server and we have designated a shared folder hierarchy to be synced or replicated
to a second Win2003 R2 server.
We must be doing SOMETHING wrong because we specified to have this
folder hierarchy sync every 10minutes. But it only runs once or runs when we log in remotely over RDP.
Even when we log in remotely over RDP it seems to run but does not reproduce any new files that have been added to target.
We have it set under its built in scheduler as run once and repeat every
10 minutes.
Any ideas??
HOW SHOULD we be setting this up instead?
