|
|
I configured Vice Versa Pro to Sync a folder of around 14 GB between Two servers. The Source is Local and the target is UNC path. I set VVLauncher and then tried with VVEngine too to automatically sync when ever there is a file change on Source or Target. I make sure that there is no permission issues and other configuration issues.
The automatic sync works fine for some hours and then it stops. I found errors like "The specified network name is no longer available." and "The handle is invalid" errors. It might be an error of our network though i am sure there is nothing wrong in the network the main issue is after error the VVEngine/VVLauncher stops detecting the changes on the Target (share directory with full access to the account under which service is running), and the only way to get it correct is to re-start it again (do disable and enable them again). And then again the same cycle follow. Works fine for some time, then there is an error and the stops detecting the change on the Target.
I am working on that since the last 4 days and tried everything i found on this forum but no luck.
I now start lossing confidence on it. Why it stops after working fine for some hours? Is there any know limitation where VVengine/VVLauncher stops detecting the changes on the Target even if share directory is available without any permission issue? Need to know the workaround.
Very Thanks,
Deepak Jain |

Hello Deepak Jain,
VVEngine is much better at monitoring network folders so my answer will focus on that. Are you using the latest VVEngine 1.1 (Build 7) ? What is the exact cycle of messages you get from VVEngine ?

Yes. it is the latest VVengine 1.1 (Build 7). Do you want me to try with the mapped drive path rather than UNC?

Hi,
I also tried with Mapped drive path but it was unable to access the Target.
Also there is one different error i receive as below:
"The semaphore timeout period has expired."
As network error cases are 2-3% of total so i am not much worried about that.
I think the big issue is why it stops detecting the changes on Target even it sync successfully at least 2-3 times after the error occurs.

The VVEngine service is running under domain admin account which has full permission to the UNC path (Which is Target) as well as the Source.
