I having an issue backing up (mirroring) my Exchange mailbox and public folders db's. I was under the impression that VV would back up these files using VSS. I have VSS enabled in VV and on the server (MS Server 2008), but I am getting errors stating VSS is unavailable and to verify VSS is running. Can someone please advise?
Also, I continuously get two backup completion screens verifying the backups and showing the stats, but one of them is always blank and not responding. Is there a reason for this and/or something I can do to correct it?
Thanks a bunch!

Hello
Did you verify that the Volume Shadow Service is running on the server?
It looks like Volume Shadow creation is failing.

I did. It is running on the server and checked in the application. I ran a test, and sort of a work-around, last night. I created a new profile to backup to a temp folder on the local drive and then another profile to backup from the temp folder to tape. It worked that way, but I manually ran the jobs. Tonight I will let it run on schedule to see if it works.
What I don't understand is why it just won't run the backup directly from the active storage group folders to the backup tape. I can continue to use the workaround as it's only adding a couple more hours of backup time, but for space reasons, I'd prefer not to have to.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your response! |
