I have read several posts about identical files with different date/time stamps due to the time zone in which they were copied/backed-up.
I travel across time zones constantly, and routinely back-up/synchronise many Gb of data. This results in a comparison (name/date/time) telling me the entire disc is different, when in fact there will only be a few hundred files which have changed. I routinely have to run time-consuming CRC checks to identify the small percentage of files which have actually changed.
Maybe I missed it, and the solution has already been posted, but I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A FACILITY TO SET AN "IGNORE TIME ZONE DIFFERENCES" PARAMETER which will allow VV to IGNORE time/date stamp differences if they are PRECISE MULTIPLES OF 60 minutes or 30 minutes or BOTH (+/- 2 seconds of course).
OK - I realise I could miss some actual updated files by this method - so an option to display files "which are going to be treated as identical by applying this parameter" would be nice - to allow review.
Grateful for feedback and assistance on this (and if I am asking for something stupid, I apologise for wasting time)
Thank you ... _________________ ** alun99 ** |
