|
|
Have a windows XP machine; C:\ drive backs up (mirrors) to external USB drive just fine; another USB drive backs up to the first USB drive just fine; the last USB drive, a Maxtor One Touch (set up in a raid array) fails; error message reflects that the path to the target drive cannot be found. The compare works; initial file deletion of the target drive works; when it comes time to write to the target USB drive, it fails. Could use some direction in trying to solve this issue; why only this USB drive doesn't work, and the error message reflects failure to find the path on the other drive (the same target drive for all Mirror back ups)? Thanks. |

Using this particular machine as a "server" in a Windows XP peer to peer workgroup. The source and the target are both USB external drives attached to the same machine. Aside from VV, each USB drive can be fully accessed thru Windows Explorer. Lets say I have a Directory on the target. If that directory has a few subdirectories in it, I change the name of one from TEST to ZTEST. This causes VV to delete the ZTEST subdirectory from the target (which it does, and is supposed to, as I'm doing a Mirror backup) but it cannot add the TEST subdirectory back (it is still on the source drive; I just renamed it on the target drive for testing purposes) from the source to the target, and the error message is:
2008-11-17 12:00:50 : Copying file \\?\G:\TEST\ACME\read.me <to> \\?\H:\TEST\ACME\read.me (12.99KB) [Can not open "\TEST\ACME\read.me". The system cannot find the path specified.] [ERROR].
Also, Mirror backup from C:\ drive to the subject target and a different external USB drive to the subject USB external target on the same machine work. |

Upon further testing, I have discovered that the Maxtor external drive won't mirror to itself. Now totally confused. |
