|
|
I've been using VV to backup a remote file server for some time now. My profile has the "archive deleted items" option checked.
Now I find myself having to restore the file server from this backup yet, when I open the Archive Viewer and select Target, I'm only able to access the directory with deleted files in it.
How can I restore the file server to it's live state (as of the last back up, obviously)? |

Hello
the target folder will contain a 1:1 mirror of the source ; if you want to restore old deleted files it needs to be done from the archive with the archive viewer tool.
thanks _________________ --

If ollow you; I think I've confused my own issue... here's my catch - my backup is all compressed into TGZ files. Perhaps I'm mistakenly thinking that VV can restore from that.
If not, any suggestions how to cleanly decompress this large collection of files? |

Sorry, I mis-spoke - they aren't TGZ, they're .gz files and they're created by selecting the compress option in the backup profile (Execution->Compression/Encryption).
I take it that one deson't restore from backup from within Vice Versa (i.e. it doesn't handle the decompression of these files); rather, that I'm on my own to get each-and-every file decompressed? |
