Currently we have multiple users connected to a single server using simple mapped network drive. When a user attempts to open a file another already has open they are prompted to open a read only copy. Is it possible to have this functionality with a ViceVersa synchronized copy when the user is online with the server?

I know when the two users eventually go to synchronize a conflict will result, but at this point time has already been wasted, and more time will be spent to merge the two users changes into one file.
