Hey everyone, I started using ViceVersa Pro 2 a few months ago and overall it's been a great product to use. However, I have a pretty sizable amount of data (approx 300GB) that I need to backup to a disaster recovery site on a 3MB/s connection every night.
I configured ViceVersa to mirror source to target so it can delete files that my users have deleted, and just update with all the newer versions or copy over any new files. That part is working fine, but the problem is this.... even after the profile JUST RAN and deleted all those files on the target and then updated them with the new versions, ViceVersa seems to find just as many files on the target that need to be updated as it did when it ran just before! This makes no sense to me since there's no way my users updated or created 61GB worth of different or new data within the 1 hour they were working in the morning that Vice Versa is deleting and copying back over another 61GB to the site. (Since the amount of data that ViceVersa wants to delete on the target is so close to the amount it copies on the first run, it's leading me to believe it's some kind of timestamp issue, but I don't seem to be getting it right when I change the ignore timestamp options)
Am I missing a setting somewhere that will correct this issue? As of right now, my backup job still finishes in time for the morning, but I find it very hard to believe that this is how it's supposed to function.
Thanks in advance for any assistance with this! |

Hi, please check if the timestamps of the files in the target match the timestamps of the files in the source after a copying. thanks _________________ --

I have this same problem, VVPro 2 Build 2014 deleting all files on target before it copies the source, even though it is set to mirror mode.
I checked the time/date stamps on target and source and they are the same. The end result is fine, just takes way too long. Hours.
This happens with encrypted back-ups, too, though I can't check the time-stamps on those without major hassle. (I can find no way to read the encrypted back-up without recreating it on a second computer running VV, which I don't have.)
What's wrong? |
