Hello,
I have encrypted files and the original profile used to backup them up & encrypt has been deleted. I have the password I used. How can I decrypt
these files?
Thanks,
Jon |

I have the same basic question, how can I restore encrypted files if I have the original password but either do not have the original profile or something has been changed since the original backup was created.
In particular, a problem arises for me when I have saved the original profile but have moved the backup files to a removable hard drive or otherwise changed their location. In that situation, the original profile won't allow opening the target files and when I make a change in the original profile to locate the moved target files, I still cannot restore. |

You need to setup a new profile with the folder containing the encrypted files as source and the folder where you want to decrypt the files to as target.
In the profile settings make sure you tell ViceVersa that the source is encrypted (and compressed?) and enter the password, both under profile settings -> compression / encryption.
Then compare source and target.
Once in the comparison window, right click on the files you want to decrypt in source and select "copy to target" or "copy to...." from the menu.
VV will copy and decrypt them
