I'm new to Viceversa and wonder about the archiving feature:
When files are moved to the archive - is there a straight forward way to restore the files and folders to the original location?

I use the replicate feature for safety reasons - periodically I want to move files to the archive however in order to keep the source and target in sync. If files and folders are moved to the archive is there a quick and simple way to restore them to the original location?

Hello

you can use the 'Archive Viewer'; it is under the 'tools' menu in ViceVersa PRO.

thanks

You say that all files and folders can easily be restored to the original location using Archive Viewer? How does the option
'Append Source/Target path to archive folder(s) ' to this?

Hi there. I have the same problem.

Using the archive viewer is there a way to restore whole folders, including all subfolders and files, or is it only possible to restore files from the selected folder?

Looking at it to me it seems you can only copy files within the selected archive folder to a specific location. Which would mean I'd have to go through every single subfolder to get a complete restore.

Am I right in thinking this is the only way to restore from the archive?

Right now it's only possible to restore files from the selected folder with the Archive Viewer ... but we do plan to add more options, including copying based on timestamps, and include subfolders.

I echo this request; it would be very nice to be able to easily restore entire folder structures from the archives based on timestamp (e.g., when it was deleted), rather than restoring one file at a time (very tedious).

Hi, I asked about this problem in an email a few months ago.

I was told that there would be an update or add-on to solve this problem released before the end of the year. I just want to make sure that that is still on track?

Thanks.

Yes, you keep saying that but nothing is done anymore, you just sit their making money over the back of new customers, but you refuse long time issues! Restoring from archives sucks, it's useless if you can't use subfolders. Why don't you just get rid off the renaming of the files, I'm getting all sweaty when I see that...sigh. Bascially you're using the files as your personal database of what is archived, that's just lazy... write a damn database for it!
