What is the difference bewteen Backup and replication? It looks like they do the same thing.

I have a peer to peer network. with three workstations. One workstation
(I call the server) has all of the firm's data and "feeds" it to the three computers.

The other two workstations have a second hardrive whose sole purpose is to store exact copies of the server. Once each morning Vice Versa does a mirror copy to workstation #1 and in the afternoon to workstation #2.

Should I be using replication instead? If do why, If not, why?

Hello

The Backup method creates an exact mirror of source in target. It deletes files from in target if they are not in source.

The Replication methods never delete files from target, they only copy files to target.

For detailed info, please see http://www.tgrmn.com/web/kb/item27.htm

thanks
