|

Running VV 2 Build 2014 with VVEngine 1.1, I'm seeing cases where a file is not updating on the target. We are still in trial mode here and have a simple test setup (bi-directional synchronization) with one folder on ServerA as the source and the same named folder on ServerB as the target. Often when one is updated, the other is not until I first run the profile from the VVEngine web page. I've noticed this happening several different days when something is first created or changed in source or target.
The credentials are correct to communicate server to server. Is there something I could look for in troubleshooting this other than obvious places? If I run the profile manually, then later I change a file, it works fine. But it seems to not pick up the first change until I force it manually. |

Run at startup - Run every hour, start on 7/15/2008 04:00 PM - Monitor source(s) and target(s) and run when file changes are detected
I'm seeing the issue again this morning. It worked yesterday only after I first ran the profile manually. But this morning it's not detecting changes when they happen. Nothing has changed. No service was restarted overnight, nor was Windows itself restarted.
It is updating on the hour, but not detecting changes in realtime.
Also, Build number was showing VVEngine 1.1 (SN5). I've gone ahead and updated to Build 7 but am going to put this on another server as this server is at the 30 day trial limit and I can't test on it after today. |

Update: After updating to Build 7 it appears to be working as expected. |

I'm wrong, its still is having problems. Any ideas? Our test is as simple as it can get. One directory on two servers. |

Hello
few questions:
- Does VVEngine miss changes in source or target?
- Is source the local folder or the network folder?
- Does VVEngine show any error or does it just miss the changes?
I would not expect VVEngine to miss changes to the local folder... more possible with remote folders; note that VVEngine relies on Windows, it is Windows that notifies of changes to files and folders.

Thank you.
It misses in either target or source. The source is the local folder. There are no errors. The modification or additional file is not detected and VVEngine doesn't make any attempt, there are no errors. Currently it's working as expected, after I reset (deleted) the tracking database yesterday. I'll have to monitor it and run occasional tests to see if it continues to function as expected. There really has not been a specific pattern to it.
Just to be sure, the VVEngine Windows Service can run under the SYSTEM account, correct? I assume the VV Pro network settings are the only place that needs to be using the domain account to communicate with the target. |

Hello
if you need VVEngine to monitor the remote folder, VVEngine needs to have access to it... if, when you enable the profile, VVEngine does not report an error "path not found" it should work fine.
When it stops detecting changes, does it stop for all changes (i.e. no longer detects ANY of the changes) or just misses some? What if you monitor only the source?

[Thanks for the reply. I've been monitoring things to be sure and now there seems to be no problems. I don't know what the issue was. The VVEngine has access to the folders using a domain account. The VVEngine Windows service is using the Windows SYSTEM account. Everything is fine. I'm beginning to think that removing the trackind DB and letting it build again resolved it. |
