|

Hello,
On a Win2K sp4 server I created a task which should run every day at a specific time. Switches are: dialogautoexec/ autoclose / wait.
The profile runs once after creating the task, but then next day I invariably get the latest status "the task could not start".
When I edit the task, there's no way to get it running, when I delte it and configure it again it runs at the given time, but only once.
In the logfile there's absolutely no reference to the task that doesn't start.
Please advise. BR

Have a look at the VVScheduler log file. It can be found under the Tools menu of VVScheduler. It may be something to do with password settings. _________________ --

Hello,
As I wrote before, there's absolutely nothing written to the VVScheduler logfile when the due task does not start. The password used in the task scheduler is exactly the same as the administrator login password.
I think we have to look further.

Where do I find the task scheduler's logfile. I know where to pick up the VVscheduler logfile. In the last one you will find ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that can be of any help.

Hello, I fouind the Task scheduler logfile and this is what it says:
"_viceversapr2_task_Serverdata.job" (ViceVersa.exe) 9/29/2005 12:12:05 AM ** ERROR **
The attempt to log on to the account associated with the task failed, therefore, the task did not run.
The specific error is:
0x80070569: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.
Verify that the task's Run-as name and password are valid and try again.
I checked the web for this error and found a lot of docs telling that the user should be granted the right to "logon as a batch job". When I check the policies I can see that no user or group is denied this right.
I run the task as "administrator" on the server with domain administrator rights. Still, I can only run the task once. After that, I get the above error.
I am now running the task manually from the VVScheduler as another user with domain admin rights. It runs for now, but I'm not sure if it will run a second time.
Is there any procedure to avoid this problem ?
Please advise. BR

No, ViceVersa cannot disable the requirement to have a password entered when scheduling a task. This issue is definetely something with account privileges, but without access to your machine I do not know what the issue can be. _________________ --

As I mentioned before, I'm certainly not the only one with this problem. There's a lot of documents about this on the web. But a solution is not available. Since VVScheduler totally relies on the Windows Task Scheduler, I expected that you would be aware of this issue or at least would be able to give some sensible advise.
I now scheduled the task running as another user on the domain with domain admin rights. At least the task seems to have started, but now the "latest status" says: currently running. This is 5 hours after the start of the backup which normally takes 20 minutes. Also the Backup dialog doesn't appear, although it is "autodialogexec" is ticked in the task properties.
If you wish, I can provide you a remote access to this particular server.
I have to solve this problem, otherwise I have to look at another software.
Best regards,

Hello,
I solved the problem like this:
In Win2k you have to go into Local Security Policies > Local Policies > User Rigth Assignment > Log on as a batchjob
There you have to rightclick > security > add the account used for the task scheduler.
So now the task runs as scheduled and according to the log finishes successfully, but "the latest status" in the VVScheduler says "currently running", although the task is completed. Any idea why this happens ?

Hello Skipper,
Great! I think this info will be very useful to other users as well.
Can you please contact us via e-mail at support@tgrmn.com ?
Please attach the log file.
Does it always happen that "the latest status" in the VVScheduler says "currently running", although the task is completed ?
thanks _________________ --

After monitoring this particular backup for a few days, it seems to run normally and it also ends with a sensible status description.
The "Currently running" has disappeared. I think we can close this issue. |
