I have a serious problem with VV Pro. 2

I have a source and target set up.
I find when I delete a file from the target - an older version of a file on my source disk, then it also deletes the file from the Source.

Furthermore, while I can undelete the file I manually deleted from the target (this file ends up in the Recycle Bin), I cannot find the NEWER file on the source. It does not end up in Recycle Bin, it simply disappears.

I have so far lost 2 days work to this problem. Any suggestions how to avoid this critical software error?

This is normal with the synchronization method. If you delete a file on one side, it is deleted from the other side. If you do not wish to use this method, try selecting a different execution method, see:

Is the source a non-local folder? If positive then Windows does not send files to the recycle bin. Use instead the file archiving feature in ViceVersa, see profile settings -> file archiving and also http://www.tgrmn.com/web/kb/item22.htm
