Hello,

I'm trying to set the following up, but I'm not sure if VV can do this without scripting. I would like to have a profile scan C:, and all subfolders, for all files of a certain extension (.pst to be exact), and backup them all to a single target folder. I've gotten the inclusion of the file extension worked out, and running a compare with the profile does indeed find all the files, and ignores others.

However, when it performs the backup, it copies all the directories on C:, leaving them empty if they don't contain a .pst file.

Any ideas? Here are my profile settings...

Folders
- Source: "\\?\C:\"
- Target: "\\?\UNC\server\PST Test\"
- Include Subfolders: Yes
- Include files: "*.pst"
Comparison
- Comparison Type: Size and Timestamp
Execution
- Method: Backup (Mirror Source to Target)
- No overwrite / read-only / error confirmations
- Log File: "\\?\UNC\server\PST Test.log" (max 10000 KB)
- No archive for deleted/replaced source files
- No archive for deleted/replaced target files
- Copy files even if timestamp changes after initial comparison
- Use 'Volume Shadow Copy' to copy open files for source
- Replace newer target files with older source files (backup only)

Thanks

Figured it out. Smile

Needed to enable "Exclude empty subfolders" under Subfolder Filters.

Edit: I'm willing to live with the fact that the copied .pst files reside in a directory structure, at least hundreds of blank folders weren't needlessly created.
