I am not sure what settings to use to accomplish the following.

Backup any changed data on the source to the destination.
Keep any deleted, changed, renamed files from the source and keep for 30 days on the destination in a separate folder structure.

Confused,
Mark

I think you should use Backup (Mirror Source to Target) with File Archiving.
Backup creates an exact copy of source to target, and archiving moves deleted files from target to the archive.

For example, a file A is newly created in Source. The backup copies the file to target. Then file A is deleted. The copy of file A that is in the target is moved to the archive folder.

You can setup the max time you want to keep file A in the file archiving settings.

thanks

Thank you.

I have been using this type of configuration for two weeks and I am having odd issues. I am seeing files in the recycle bin on the destination server. The time they are being deleted is during the backup job in the middle of the night. This tells me VV is deleting the files.

The location the files were deleted from are the archive folder. I have set the number of archive files to "0" and the number of days to "30".

The file was backed up on 4/23/08, archived on 4/26/08 and then deleted on 4/29/08.

Why?

Yes I am using Smart Archiving. Also I have Move files to archive folders checked. Keep max 0, remove archive copiers older then 30 days. Keep archive copies only for conflicks is unchecked and Append Source/Target path to archive is checked.

Hi,
with Smart Archive ViceVersa keeps one file version every five minutes for the last hour, one file version every hour during the last day, one file version every day for the last month plus one file version per month.
ViceVersa may have deleted a file following these rules.
You can switch Smart Archive off if you do not want this behavior.

thanks

Ah, I see.

I will give that a try. All the files that were deleted are still in the Recycle Bin. Can I just restore them with out any issue?
