Hi,
we are encountering problems in syncronizing two folder's content.
These are the environment specifications:
1) Viceversa pro (Build 2014) and vvengine [1.1 (SN5)] are installed on a dedicated server;
2) The folders to syncronize are located on two web servers;
3) All the servers are windows 2003 std r2 sp2, updated with the last patches;
4) VVeengine runs under an administrator account with read and write permissions on both folders;
5) The folders and the subfolders are browsable from the replication server;
6) The folders size is, more or less, 80 GB and the files are approximatly 3 millions. For this reason we created 6 different profiles, one for every subfolder.
7) The network and the name resolution works fine.
The profiles are configured for syncronization, with the following options:
FOLDERS:
- source and target folder are indicated with the UNC path \\server\share\folder... (the lenght is under 256 characters);
COMPARISON:
- comparison method is "size and timestamp" with no options;
PERFORMANCE/BANDWITH:
- Process priority is idle;
- Buffer size is 65536;
ADVANCED SETTINGS:
- copy file even if timestamp changes after initial comparison;
- copy directly to destination file (do not use a temporary file);
- Try to copy files that are in use by other applications;
- Synchronize/backup/replicate files even if in conflict;
We are encountering a lot of "handle is invalid" errors, even if the folders are browsable from the replication server.
Moreover we noticed that, sometimes, the profiles seem freezed as no changes are detected. The viceversa compare founds many differences but the profile still doesn't run. If we run it manually, all the files are copied, deleted or modified.
We hope in your help in solving the problem.
Thank you and regards.

Hello Luca
thank you for the detailed post.

For every file in the profile or only for some files? Could you post the log for the profile which gives these errors?

Are the changes happening on a remote folder (e.g. on the machine where VVEngine is not running) or locally? It sounds like VVengine is not detecting the file changes.

The changes are happening on two remote folders, placed on the web servers, where vvengine is not installed.
Thank you for your support.

I am having this same issue and it only started after upgrading to 2003 R2. Has anyone found a way around it? If we could at least have VV continue after the error I could get by for now....Otherwise our purchase of 6 licenses is pretty much useless at this point. |
