I replicate (Update Target) from directories on several servers to a target on network storage (NettApp Filer). For the most part things work well except for this error that we get in the logs on some of the files. I see no difference in the files that work and those that don't.

Here is the error:

Can not copy NTFS Additional File Streams of folder

And at the end of a line:

The handle is invalid.] [ERROR]

or this is at the end of the line in the log:

The mounted file system does not support extended attributes.] [ERROR]

Can anyone tell me what causes this? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the reply.

The details button is greyed out under Profile Settings\Execution\Advanced settings. I can "un-grey" the details button by choosing "Copy Permissions, security attributes and streams (NTFS only)" but there is no "copying additional data streams" to turn off under details.

There is a check box under details for "Turn not copy file/ folder data streams". Is that what you want me to try? Thanks, Steve

Hi there,
I am getting this problem with a copy that fails on just one file. I don't understand what 'data streams' are though, so I don't want to turn off something that may cause some other problem.

The file that fails to copy is a .jpg but it opens OK in explorer.

Thanks.

Thanks for the link.

That does clear things up for me and I am now happy to turn off that option.

You've now made me worried about the potential abuse of data streams on our networks though - so thanks for that. Evil or Very Mad

Modern anti-virus software today checks for ADS on NTFS files too, I would not be too worried Smile

Just bumping this thread, as I was getting a similar error message, and disabling the data streams seems to have fixed it.
