|

Hi,
I've tried to sync with a WebDAV folder. First I used NetDrive from Novell to map the WebDAV folder as a network drive. However, NetDrive reports errors (Can't format message ...) during sync so automation is not possible.
But I've read in this forum that ViceVersa works also with WebDAV folders directly - however not on my PC?! I can't select e.g. a WebDAV subfolder within ViceVersa. And if I select the WebDAV folder (in the choose folder dialog) it is not taken over to the target field in the ViceVersa main window.
My fault?
Best regards
Martin |

Are you on Windows XP? Only Windows XP allows the selection of WebDav folders in other applications outside the Windows Explorer. _________________ --

Hello, is the WebDav folder mapped to a network drive? Try typing or copying the folder path in the target field, does that work? _________________ --

Yes, the WebDAV folder is mapped to a network drive, using NetDrive from Novell. But this does not work fine because NetDrive generates error messages during sync. So I tried the integrated WebDAV folder function of Windows XP, that is the WebDAV folder is available in the network environment ("Netzwerkumgebung") - I think it is called network hood or something like that. But I have problems to specify the path to this WebDAV folder and I can not select it within the choose folder dialog. |

Ok, this seems to be a problem with the WebDAV, Windows XP and the https protocol. Because of this it is not possible to include a WebDAV folder as a network drive (strangely enough it is possible to add it as a folder under network environment), or use pathes like http://www.xyz.com/dir or \\www.xyz.com\dir.
However there is commercial product called WebDrive but it costs about 60 $ - but for such a price I get software with greater functionality (such as ViceVersa ) If you are planning to integrate your own WebDAV functionality let me know! This would be really great |

We do have native support for FTP and WebDav on the ViceVersa road map. But we do not have a fixed release date yet for this yet........ _________________ --

This is a must. It will make the product MUCH more friendly and useful for distributed content.
I have made Webdav work from within Vice Versa for http, but I can only have the data go over a secure SSL/https connection. The Windows XP implementation, SP2 included, breaks with https, although Microsoft talks about it working. I have spent many hours testing and trying to get it to work.
I can not use ftp or ftps because that port is frequently blocked by firewalls in the offices which I need to sync files.
I use Webdrive, which is quirky itself. It would be nice to have one app manage the transfer. Webdrive does the job, but the bandwidth throttling feature from Vice Versa is negated by Webdrive and Webdrive does not have a throttling feature.
Can I beta test this feature when you start working on it? |

Another vote for WebDav support. This would really be helpful to me. |

I am also trying to use Webdrive, combined with ViceVersa. But yes, Webdrive is quirky... If ViceVersa had a good support for WebDAV, including https connections, it would be great. |
