I am evaluating Vice Versa PRO Build 2014 and need a step-by-step instruction on how to create a “snapshot”.

The following statement was found in the Knowledge Base, http://www.tgrmn.com/web/kb/item23.htm

“You can verify that files in a specified location have not changed by creating a snapshot of one or more folders
at a given time and then re-comparing the folder content with the original snapshot at later time”.

When specifying a single source/target from the GUI, the user is given a choice of: Folder, Snapshot, and Explore.

When specifying multiple sources/targets., from the GUI, the user is a given a choice of: Folder, and Explore.

If the “snapshot”, is selected, the User is asked to “Select Snapshot File” of Filetype, ViceVersa Snapshot (*.vsn)

I would like to know how the Vice Versa Snapshot (*.vsn) file(s) are created and use them for a subsequent “re-comparing the folder content with the original snapshot”.

Thanks for your help

Hi, snapshots are created from the comparison window.
E.g. suppose you want to create a snapshot for folder c:\folderA\

- Create a new profile (from the menu select file -> new)
- Enter c:\folderA\ for source.
- Enter <blank> for target ( including < > )
- Click on compare
- Once the comparison window opens, from the menu select lists -> save -> save source to a file
- Select the snapshot name and click ok.

Once a snapshot is created, you can use it for comparison vs a folder. E.g. you can compare c:\folderA\ vs. the created snapshot, by using the snapshot name in the target, and check if/what files have changed.

thanks
