I must be doing something silly but I can't fathom it out...
I have a few scheduled ViceVersa tasks running on my machine, syncs, reps and backups. I don't have any issues with the syncs and reps but the full backup I schedule gives me grief and I can't get to the bottom of it.
I have a backup with 2 source/target combinations, which runs every 12 hours. Every alternate backup seems to delete all the backed up files in the target but does not replace them with files from the source. When I examine the target folders afterwards it appears that the only backed up files are those that were created since the last backup. The next backup then saves all the files from the source.
I'm assuming that I am setting something up incorrectly but, for the life of me, I don't know what....

Not sure, Question , but the profile log may contain additional info.
You can setup a profile log in the profile settings -> execution...

I have a log running but can't see anything in it..

I note that the backup always deletes all files before then backing them up again. If all files are in the target it deletes all 27Gb's before then backing up (apparently) only those files added to the source since the backup. The next backup then deletes those files and backs up the 27Gb's again!!

Q. Why should the backup first of all delete all target files?

It must be an issue with file timestamps not properly set on the target. what type of drive is the target? Try running a visual comparison of source and target using ViceVersa next time before running a full backup and check what the comparison and preview window shows. thanks

Well I spent a week or so trying various things, different disks for the target etc. but still got the same result...files deleted on alternate backups. I then split 1 backup into 2 separate operations. That is to say the original backup consisted of 2 source/target pairs and I took each of the pairs and created separate backups.
I still got the same result..1 backup would delete a folder backed up by the other. I then made 1 of the backups a replication and things are now working as I want them.
I still don't understand what is going on and why a backup should ever delete a folder in the target.

If a folder is deleted from the source , the Backup (Mirror) method will delete the corresponding folder from the target.
Instead the Replication method never removes files from target.

Please see http://www.tgrmn.com/web/kb/item27.htm for more details. thanks
