I buyed the newest version of VV and tried to compare a 30GB (~50000 files) disk over a 128k VPN line during night.
The source, which is stored locally, took about 4 minutes to complete
The target was very fast at the beginning (30 minutes for 22000 files), but then it slows down dramatically and was finally finished 5 hours later.
So it looked like, that not only I was getting tired, !
Is there some improvement, which I can made to accelerate this comparison? |

Hello
Next time you should run ViceVersa in the morning: it performs much better when just awake just kidding .....
I am trying to think what could have caused this. Note that the comparison process is: scan source, sort source, scan target, sort target, compare. If you have a log file you could maybe see where it actually took so long.
Also the info about the source is strange. 4 min for scanning and sorting 50K files seems too much. Is source a local disk? _________________ --

Yes, its a local disk, but don't care about this. The problem is the target.
You have to know, what I'm trying to perfect is speed, speed and speed.
Over this slow 128k, I neither can use the VVLauncher, nor any other real-time sync, can't I? Because the comparison took, let's say at least 2 hours.
On one site there are about 20 users, who shares a network drive with 2 other users on another side. What are my options? The only thing I know is to make a comparison and sync execution during the night!
Is there some other option, how I maybe can detect file changes during the day, WITHOUT comparing the whole drive? Because the bottleneck is not the copying of different files, but the comparison!
Thanks again for helping me,
Michael |
