Am I correct in understanding that encryption and compression are both optional? That's what I want.
"... Supports encryption and compression: safely store your data on-line and on movable media..."
I have plenty of room on external hard drives. Thanks. |

What I meant to ask is: Do you use a proprietary format?
I regret not mentioning that, too, in my post a moment ago --
It's the main concern, actually. Many thanks. |

Hello, both are optional. Compression is made with the standard gz format while encryption is proprietary (AES 256bit)

Is the backup a straight copying, or is it in a format that is proprietary? Thank you.
If it can be either, where and how does one make that choice? |

The default is straight copying, unless you activate compression and/or encryption in the profile settings -> compression/encryption
