Every day I transport data between 2 desktop systems at home and work using a big 4gb memory stick. Using ViceVersa, I can synchronize to the memory stick, giving me 3 copies of my data that is less than 4gb. To keep data small, I have a "working" folder that I synchronize.
The problem is that my disks are 500gb, and I don't always modify just the "working" folder. I want to synchronize ALL folders between the two disks every day.
This could be done if ViceVersa copies all changes (entire files if modified, plus all rename/move/delete info) to the memory stick, and then lets me apply these to the other system. The memory stick is big enough to copy a day's worth of changes where full files are stored (i.e., don't need compression or using fance "diff" that copies just delta data like rsync). However, the memory stick isn't big enough to hold all 500gb (obviously). |
