I'm trying to get VVEngine to backup from a UNC share to a local drive but I'm having problems with permissions.

VVEngine is logged on as an active directory account with permissions on the remote server. If I log on to the server with that account, I can access the share. VVEngine reports "Folder not accessible" for the UNC share. If I change the service to log on as administrator, it works happily but I don't want to give it that much access.

By monitoring the network, I can see that the service isn't able to use the network when running with the limited account.

Do you know what additional security privilege(s) I need to grant my limited access account?

Thanks.

Hi, you could use the Network Service Account to run the VVEngine service, see http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998320.aspx

I can't configure the service to run as the network service account (I get an error saying the user can't be found).

I think this is because the service is running on a domain controller. I can happily set up services on other servers to run using the network service account.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

mmmm, not sure, Confused , I do not know what privilege the network service account has in order to access the network.... I could not find any account policies that could be activated... if you find out please let me know!

By the way, does your server have any service that run under the Network Service account?

thanks
