Hello,
This is my first post and I’m also new to the whole mirroring thing, not computers… just mirroring. With that said I would like to know what is needed to create a working mirroring process. First I have been looking at your software as the main copy software. I know I need two computers and a network; I have that. Assuming I have all what I need with your software; how does mirroring work?
When computer “A” goes down what starts computer “B” and makes it take over? Is that in your software? Sorry for the stupid questions, but I’m trying to understand this. |

ViceVersa will help you mirroring (replicating) files across computers. For instance, you may need to keep a copy of a certain set of files between two computers for backup purposes. The advantage of using Viceversa is that it will compare source and target and then only copy / delete what has changed. _________________ --

Thank you for the reply.
Understood, but when computer “A” crashes how does computer “B” start working? Does your software reset the IP of computer “B” to the IP of computer “A” or is there another peace of equipment I need to get? |

No, it needs to be done manually. You could "restore" computer A by copying the files from computer B or make computer B replace computer A. _________________ --

Okay, so if I'm getting this. Your software only does the coping part and I would need something like a black box that would reset the IP on computer B if A goes down? |

Thanks; I see... any recommendations for a black box, books etc? When I get your software I would like to be able to complete the whole job, so I need to learn how to put this all together. |
