Hi,
Trying to make VVLauncher working in a SBS2003 domain with a Vista Business workstation.
VV Pro 2 is working fine synchronizing local folders to a network share on the SBS box.
The user has standard user rights, as it should have.
When trying to use VVLauncher, we get a mesg that the task can not be created, but VVLauncher starts and synch properly, but when the user log off/on, VVLauncher is not restarted.
If we grant admin rights to the user, it works ok. So there is something to do with UAC and some restricted resources VVLuncher is trying to access with insufficient rights.
Granting local admin rights to the users is not a workable solution.
Any thoughs on how to resolve that issue ?
Thanks |

Hello
I think the message "the task could not be created" indicates that VVLauncher in unable to add a task to the Vista Task Scheduler. VVLauncher adds this task in order to start when the computer starts.
VVLauncher requires to be "run as administrator", it is strange that it is unable to add the task.
Is the user an administrator or what type of user?

Hi,
We first tried to run VV Launcher as normal user and get that error message. Then we granted that user local admin right and the task was created ok. But as soon the admin right is removed (as it should), when starting vvlauncher, the sw asks for the admin credentials. We definitely don't want the user to belong to the admin group (security, virus, etc...).

Hi,
I would appreciate if I could get an update on this post.
We can not make this working in a standard user context with Vista.
Thanks |

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately this is not an option when implementing VV in a business context where security is a must.
This is a fuctionnality downgrade from the XP installation.
It would be very useful if this issue could be worked out for a future release.
Thanks and best regards

Do you need VSS to copy in-use files? Only applications which run with admin rights can create shadow copies. Otherwise I think you could run VVLauncher as non-admin. Let me know, I could send a non-admin version of VVLauncher. thanks _________________ --

Hi again,
We don't need VSS, just to have VVlauncher to start every 15 minutes to copy files over to a network share. That's it. A non admin version would be helpful.
Thanks

I am having the same problem and could use the non-admin version as well. How can I get a hold of it?
Thanks,
