What is vv pro doing when it puts up a modal dialog saying either 'checking archive files' or 'checking backup files', or approximately those phrases?

These can be very long operations. Are either of them related to "smart" backup?

Also, there is no way to minimize that dialog window, and there should be.

Hello, VV is checking the archive folders to see if any old files need to be deleted , based on the archive settings. If the amount of files in the archive is very large, this can take some time....

Ahh, that's what I was suspecting.

In my case, I believe I have my settings so that no "smart" archiving is done, and there is no time limit on archive file age nor limit on number of copies, i.e., vv is set to never delete archive files. I would therefore suggest that in such a case, where no archive files will need to be deleted, regardless of what is found, that this possibly time-consuming step should be skipped.

Strange, if no archive files need to be deleted, because of the archive settings, VV it should not scan the archive folders. I will check further and let you know, thanks

Did you ever discover whether this bug is real?
