|
|
The error dialog that popped up during a Volume Shadow copy is way too small to determine the identity of the file.
The full path was:
\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy34\Users\PaoloC\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.ost
Now, the file involved was specified in the output window and in the execution dialog, but that isn't the point.
The error dialog should be able to handle VERY long file identities.

Thanx for the prompt response.
By the way, if you are changing this, can you ensure ALL areas where file identities are displayed, they are long enough?
One of my peeves with my previous file syncher (otherwise an excellent product for its day) was that the file identification areas were too small.
These days, file identification strings can get VERY long....

I have similar complaints.
However, because file names can be very long, it can become impractical to assure that the dialog window size is initialized to be large enough to accommodate them.
In general, I would like all windows to be resizeable by the user. (In addition to or in place of initializing windows to be large enough.)
Also, it might be useful to provide tooltips on names not displayed in full.
Finally, it would also be useful if it were possible to select and copy to clipboard such long names, so one doesn't have to try to write them on paper.

I forgot to mention that one useful hack I have seen is the ability to scroll the file name when you select it with the mouse, and try to drag select past the end of the displayed part of the name. Sorry, but I don't know how that's implemented, in particular whether it's something the windows api offers in an easy way.
