Gentelmen,
I am currently in the market for a backup software.
Here is my problem. We currently have seven desktop pcs in our home that are networked togather.
What I want to do is backup six of the pc's on a daily bases to one main pc, then I want to have the one pc backup on a weekly base's to a offsite place.
However I want the complete operating systems and software for each pc to be recoverable if one of the pcs fail.
From our server or the off site location.
In other words I dont want to have to go throught the process of reinstalling the OS and all the software again.
I would like to have it so that I could have the pcs setup as following:
Daughter Pc Backup to our server
Daughter pc Backup to our server
Daughter pc Backup to our server
Sons pc Backup to our server
Moms pc Backup to our server
Dads pc Backup to our server
Laptop Backup to our server
Our server backup to and offsite location via dsl internet. Can your software do this?
Also what would be the cost?
And what version's or add ons would you recommend.
Thks

Hi Brian
I think you will need disk imaging software for that. Viceversa does copy all files but it will not make a bootable copy of the disk. The disadvantage of creating disk images is that they are pretty slow, while if you backup only data files such as documents, spreadsheets, images, pictures, etc, it is much faster, because ViceVersa will only copy what has changed since last time the backup was done.

Since their are so many software packages out their.
What software would you recommend. Reason I am asking is due to the fact the wife had a major crash on her pc and I am still trying to dig out form that crash.
My concern is that the next crash would be both of our pc. I currently have our accounting package on my pc and we have the appraisal software plus other programs on hers.
I cant offered to lose the data on either machine. 3 weeks and still trying to recover and sort through her data.
Thks

I think VV would be good for your scenario. You can install ViceVersa on each machine (you will need multiple licenses) and push files to a central server automatically. The backup would not be bootable, but in case of a crash you only need to reinstall the Operative System (good idea anyway) and applications, but the valuable data is readily available as a mirror copy. thanks _________________ --
