Execution mirroring problem

[Athonas]

A laptop is connected via IEEE 1394 to a desktop, both runing XP pro SP2 in the same workgroup with the same permissions.
While mirroring source to target, in both directions using VVpro2, no copying takes place as I get the error message "Can not copy Owner information to file".
Any suggestions?

That messages is shown when VV is unable to copy the owner information from one voulme to the other. The causes may be multiple. If you swith off the option 'copy file permissions' in the advanced settings the error will go away. If you need to copy the file permissions you need to make sure that the account running VV has the Windows privileges assigned to do that, that both volumes are NTFS and part of the same domain.

Switched off option "copy file permissions" and still does not work. As far as the rest of your suggestion, win privileges have been assigned to account, both volumes are NTFS and are part of the same workgroup, not sure if they are part of the same domain ( is this same as subnet mask? which is the same ).

Could you please post the log file (you can setup a log file in the profile settings) so we can see what exaclty is happening. This is strange because when the option "copy file permissions" is off VV will not copy owner info.

In your previous post you asked to turn off "copy file permissions" and post log file, which I did. As a matter of fact, in both "on" and "off" conditions files could not be copied. Now you are mentioning I should have turned off "Copy folder privileges and security attributes" when no folders are being copied. Will copy work if this is off?
All I'm trying to say is that VV is supposed to copy files from a location to a another, which does not work. Is there a way around or a fix?

Sorry for the confusion.

The option **** Copy folder privileges and security attributes **** is no longer valid in VVPRO 2. It is an option coming from VVPRO 1.3.1
You were probably opening a previous project saved with VV PRO 1.3.1 and that is the reason why the settings was there but could not be switched off.

We have now fixed this issue. You can re-download ViceVersa PRO 2 from www.tgrmn.com . The download is now build 2007

In VVPRO 2 there is no difference between copying file security or folder security.

Have tried build 2007 but still unable to copy without error messages pertaining to owner info. Take a look at the two log files, perhaps the error messages are meaningful to you.

You may want to switch off the option **** Copy file privileges, security attributes and file streams, if you do not need this.

Hi - in build 2.0.0.8 we have added the option to decide which security attributes to copy. You can choose to copy file privileges, file auditing entries and/or owner info. Switching off 'copying owner' will solve this issue.
