|
|
I am synchronizing a folder on my local hard disk (source) to a NAS device. I am running Vista x64 and the latest version of ViceVersa (Evaluation).
I have enabled the VSS option in the profile (for Source only).
When I run Execute the synch I get a VSS error:
Quote: | 2007-05-24 09:03:46 : Initializing Volume Shadow Copy DLL ...
2007-05-24 09:03:46 : Creating Volume Shadow Copy for D: ... [Volume Shadow Copy creation failed for D:. E_UNEXPECTED - Verify that the Windows Volume Shadow Service is enabled on this computer]
2007-05-24 09:03:46 : [Volume Shadow Copy creation failed for D:. E_UNEXPECTED - Verify that the Windows Volume Shadow Service is enabled on this computer] Error. |
VSS is Enabled (using the Local System Account)
I am logged on with Administrator priviledges when running ViceVersa.
I have tried running ViceVersa and VVLauncher 'As Administrator' - I still get the error.
I notice that if the VSS Service is not started before running the profile, it is afterwards, so it is being successfully started by ViceVersa.
Any ideas?
Thanks |

Could you please explain a bit more the problem, I am not really sure what you mean in the last part.
Thanks! _________________ --

If I open Services (Ctrl Panel>Adm Tools>Services) and look at Volume Shadow service, its startup type is Manual and it is not started.
I run ViceVersa and execute the profile, which runs and generates the error message about VSS in my original post. If I then go back to the Services applet, I find that 'Volume Shadow' now says 'Started'.
So my understanding is that ViceVersa is successfully starting the VSS, but the error occurs after this point. |

OK - thank you.
Since I have to decide whether to buy ViceVersa, could you advise whether you will be developing 64-bit support for VSS?
thanks |
