VSS not working (Vista 64 Ultimate)

I am synchronizing a folder on my local hard disk (source) to a NAS device. I am running Vista x64 and the latest version of ViceVersa (Evaluation).

I have enabled the VSS option in the profile (for Source only).

When I run Execute the synch I get a VSS error:

VSS is Enabled (using the Local System Account)
I am logged on with Administrator priviledges when running ViceVersa.
I have tried running ViceVersa and VVLauncher 'As Administrator' - I still get the error.

I notice that if the VSS Service is not started before running the profile, it is afterwards, so it is being successfully started by ViceVersa.

Any ideas?

Could you please explain a bit more the problem, I am not really sure what you mean in the last part.

If I open Services (Ctrl Panel>Adm Tools>Services) and look at Volume Shadow service, its startup type is Manual and it is not started.

I run ViceVersa and execute the profile, which runs and generates the error message about VSS in my original post. If I then go back to the Services applet, I find that 'Volume Shadow' now says 'Started'.

So my understanding is that ViceVersa is successfully starting the VSS, but the error occurs after this point.

If you start the VSS service manually before running VV, does VV still give the error?

Hi, ViceVersa does not support VSS on 64bit yet, sorry!

Since I have to decide whether to buy ViceVersa, could you advise whether you will be developing 64-bit support for VSS?

ViceVersa PRO 2 for Windows 64-bit was released a few months ago, please see http://www.tgrmn.com/web/kb/item74.htm

This version solves the VSS 64-bit issue reported in this post.
