|
|
I routinely backup my laptop to a USB drive connected to another machine on my home LAN via WiFi. After returning from a trip, I forgot to change the timezone on my laptop back to my home TZ. I used to use Robocopy for this but started using ViceVersa for other replicatoins where I needed two way syncing.
Robocopy seemed to always compare the files in GMT so differences in timezone were irrelevant. ViceVersa seems to use the time stamp we see visually, which, of course, caused all of the files to be different and it launched a massive replication of my whole documents folder structure instead of just what had changed.
Is there a setting I am missing on this? _________________ _______

Hi
ViceVersa does not use GMT values for the timestamps.
Currently it uses the file timestamps as shown by Windows. _________________ --

Are there any plans to change that or add that option? If not, it means no syncing remotely when traveling outside of your base TZ. _________________ _______

Hi, we have a plan to investigate this possibility further... right now the "time offset" in the comparison profile settings should be used in case files are compared across time zones. thanks _________________ --

Hrm... thanks. That will help, but only if you remember to set it at each sync when traveling. Still, better than having 8GB of sync launch over a relatively slow internet connectoin. _________________ _______
