I am having the same problem with Powerpoint files. They haven't been changed but VV thinks they have and identifies them for synchronisation. Even where I manually overwrite one file with the other, VV keeps identifying the same files for synchronisation. This is quite annoying as I have lots of Powerpoint files and synchronisation can take some time when the files are large. I will try to remove the size criterion for synchronisation but what gives with the Powerpoint problem? I am using the 2002 version of Powerpoint.

I have the same problem with Powerpoint 2003. Simply opening and closing files in Powerpoint cause the size to change w/o changing the last-modified date.
This is the single feature that I dislike when using viceversa. It unnecessarily x100 my synchronization times.
Ignoring the file size is not a good idea as there might false negatives. |

Hello
If you do not mind that source and target files are not 100% identical (different file sizes for PPT files), ignoring the file size is a good solution. Files will not be copied if the file size is different but the timestamp is the same.
BTW what version of PowerPoint are you using?

I used to use office 2003. Just installed 2007 a few days ago, will try whether this is still a problem or not.
You are suggesting to change my username but that does not make any sense. Not all powerpoint files on my computer are mine, they will have their own usernames in the file.
I hope office 2007 has fixed the issue. |

Came across this old thread looking for help on the same topic. I have recently acquired Powerpoint 2007 and when I open and close a Powerpoint file without changing it, it changes file size and appears as a conflict when being compared with the target folder. I remember having a similar problem with Powerpoint files on Vice Versa some years ago, but can't remember how it was resolved then. It only affects Powerpoint files. I could change the settings to ignore file size but this leaves me wondering why it is Powerpoint only which generates this problem.

Hello
I tested PowerPoint 2007 and the neither size or timestamp changed if I did not save the file. Which format are you using ppt or pptx ?
Were these files created on another computer or by a different user?
Have you tried creating a new file and change it , does the timestamp changes if you only read the file without making changes?
