The ViceVersa team is pleased to announce that ViceVersa PRO 2.0.0.5 BETA is available for download.
New Features
- UNICODE support: ViceVersa PRO now supports all character and special characters of the world including, but not limited to, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, etc.
- Enhanced reporting capabilities: ViceVersa now reports total bytes copied, deleted, added during sync, backup, replication; supports the ability to log only summary and errors for improved control as well as many other logging and reporting enhancements.
- Added comparison summary and execution summary.
- User Interface has been redesigned. ViceVersa is now even easier to use but still retains full control over synchronization, backup and replication methods with over 60 options for the advanced user.
- The synchronization methods have been re-arranged.
- Added the ability to run a profile from the main window instead of clicking on 'compare' first.
- Improved bandwidth throttling.
Important Notes Before Installation
- It is possible to install ViceVersa PRO 2.0.0.5 BETA along side with ViceVersa PRO 1.3.1 as both versions can co-exist on the same computer. The uninstallation routine uninstalls ViceVersa PRO 2.0.0.5 BETA completely and leaves ViceVersa PRO 1.3.1 in place. This means that users of version 1.3.1 can try 2.0.0.5 Beta without conflicts.
- ViceVersa PRO 2.0.0.5 can read ViceVersa PRO 1.3.1 projects. ViceVersa PRO 1.3.1 can NOT read ViceVersa PRO 2.0.0.5 projects. BTW, in version 2.0.0.5 projects are now called "profiles".
- Compression, encryption and tracking database are incompatible with previous versions, files will need to be recreated.
- If you have registered ViceVersa PRO 1.3.1, also ViceVersa PRO 2.0.0.5 BETA will be registered.
- The Help file is not yet included in the BETA version.

Encryption upgraded to AES 256 bit. Compression and Encryption now supporting UNICODE characters (which covers all characters in the world). _________________ --

I'm not sure if this is a bug... probably a feature that isnt working quite the way i think it should.
I just had it re-sync a backup which consisted of deleting a few files in the target and then copying over some files that were newer in the source.
When it finished deleting the files, it just sat there. I had to click close for it to go to step 2 of 2. I had the option set to NOT close the window when it finished. I'm guessing thats why it stopped. But stopping seems like a bad idea to me. I'd rather it keep the window open and just continue on to the next step. i.e. keep the window open after all steps have completed ... not for each individual step. |

This is by desing. If you set the option NOT to close the window when it finished VV will not close each step. But I understand your point of view. Maybe it should close for 'in-between' steps and not for the final one. _________________ --

Maybe add a 2nd check box. If you elect to have the window not close, then you can choose to have it continue on to the next step or for it to wait for you.
I like seeing whats going on, but unless there's a problem, i dont want it to sit and wait for me to close the window.
my 2 cents |
